David Fotouhi

David Fotouhi is an American lawyer, activist, and government official serving as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since June 2025.[1]

Career

Fotouhi was nominated by Donald Trump to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; the nomination was criticized for his perceived lack of experience. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 10, 2025, in a 53–41 party-line vote.[2] He was sworn in on June 16, 2025.[3]

Prior to his nomination, Fotouhi was a partner in environmental litigation at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He is also a member of the conservative legal organization The Federalist Society, and is a Republican.[4]
