Fuxingmen
Fuxingmen (simplified Chinese: 复兴门; traditional Chinese: 復興門; pinyin: Fùxīngmén) is the name of a gate that used to be a part of Beijing's old city wall. It is also the name of a road situated in central Beijing and on the northwestern stretch of the 2nd Ring Road in Beijing's Xicheng District.
Origin
Fuxingmen means "Gate of Revival", referring to a former gate in the Beijing city wall. Today, it is also the name of the overpass and major traffic node in the same area.
The interchange station Fuxingmen Station connects Line 1 and Line 2 of the Beijing Subway, and the area is also served by several public bus routes.
The area is near the commercial hubs of Xidan and Beijing Financial Street. Fuxingmen also marks the western end of Fuxingmen Inner Street, which extends westward from West Chang'an Avenue, and the eastern beginning of Fuxingmen Outer Street.
According to *Xinhua News*, the name “Fuxingmen” is not only a historical reference but also symbolizes modern Beijing's vision for national rejuvenation and urban development.[1]
