Gruszewo [ɡruˈʂɛvɔ] (German Grüssow)[1] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Białogard, within Białogard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[2] It lies approximately 7 km (4 mi) south of Białogard and 109 km (68 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
History
The region was part of the Medieval Duchy of Pomerania which joined the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation to stay with states of Germany until 1945/1990. During World War II, the German administration operated a forced labour subcamp of the Stalag II-D prisoner-of-war camp in the village.[3]
