Justin Oakey
Justin Oakey is a Canadian film director from Newfoundland and Labrador,[1] whose debut feature Riverhead was released in 2016, followed by A Fire in the Cold Season in 2019.[2]
Also an accomplished editor, he has worked on acclaimed titles such as Blood For Dust and The King Tide, for which he won the award for Best Atlantic Editor at the 2023 Atlantic International Film Festival,[3] and the award for Best Editing in a Feature Film at the 2024 Canadian Cinema Editors awards.[4] Upcoming titles include Dolly and The Embers and the Stars.
His third feature, Hangashore, starring Hera Hilmar and James Frecheville is slated to premiere at the 2025 Atlantic International Film Festival.[5]
